Plant Description
The plant is a pubescent climber with milky latex. The stems, which twine or trail over the ground, are more or less hitsute with stiff spreading hairs. The leaves are broadly ovate or more rarely almost orbicular, widely cordate at base, acuspidate- acuminate at the top. They are up to 15cm or more long and 12cm or more broad, but normally smaller.
The flowers, in a terminal racemiform corymb, are held up by pedicels up to 3cm long and filiform. The corolla is white or greenish white about 1cm long, the lobes being beaded on the margin. The plant is a perennial and the leaves have a perculiar mousy odour. (Ogbochukwu, 2005.)

Plant Uses
i. The whole plant is used as an external application for rheumatism and also for any eye complaint.
ii. It has emmenagogue properties and is used in Nigeria, Senegal as well as in India for regulating menstruation.
iii. The whole plant is also sometimes included in fever remedies and for sores in Nigeria.
iv. The leaves are used for infantile diarrhea.
v. The juice is used for abscesses or guines worm in Nigeria.
vi. An infusion of the root is taken for stomach pain and asa abortifacient (Kokwaro, 1993)
